How to Reserve Your Campsite:

To ensure a spot at one of our pristine campsites, reservations are required. Here’s how you can secure your stay:

Steps to Reserve:

  1. Review the Baxter Online Reservation Guide: Follow the step-by-step directions if you are unfamiliar with our online reservation platform.
  2. Once Ready, Head to our portal: Located here.
  3. Check Availability and Submit Your Dates: Users are not allowed to reserve less than 7 days prior to the event date or more than 180 days in advance. This facility has a fixed check-in and check-out time of 3:00 p.m.
  4. Submit your Payment: Your spot on the online calendar is secured and will be reviewed by staff to ensure there are no issues.
  5. Confirmation: Once your submission is confirmed by staff, you’ll receive a confirmation with all the details.

Rules and Regulations:

To keep our campsites safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these guidelines:

  1. Reservations Required: Camping at Giese Park Primitive Campsites requires an online reservation. Check availability on the Giese Campsite Calendar and submit your reservation request at www.baxter-iowa.com. All campers must register their campsites online.
  2. Designated Camping Areas: Camping is only allowed in designated areas of the primitive campsites. Setting up camp outside these areas is prohibited.
  3. Campsite Limitations: Each campsite is limited to a maximum of 2 tents. The campsite is permitted one table and one fire ring.
  4. Check-In/Check-Out: Camper check-in and check-out is at 3:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly to ensure a smooth transition for all campers.
  5. Occupancy Limit: The maximum stay at Giese Primitive Campsites is 7 consecutive nights. After this period, campers are required to leave the park for at least 72 hours before returning.
  6. Leave No Trace: Pack out all trash and belongings, and leave the campsite as you found it to preserve the natural environment for future campers.
  7. Campfires: Only use designated fire rings for campfires. Ensure that fires are completely extinguished before leaving your campsite or going to bed.
  8. Safety: Always supervise children and be aware of local wildlife to ensure a safe and enjoyable camping experience.
  9. Respect Nature: Preserve the park’s natural beauty by not disturbing plants, wildlife, or other natural features.
  10. Authority of Park Staff: Park staff are authorized to refuse camping privileges and to rescind any and all camping permits for cause and without refund.
